June 20: Cirque de Oil Slick
Cirque de Oil Slick
Ten performers of superb physique are lowered into a giant glass tank. They are dressed in the attire of day-traders circa various decades. They shout numbers as they pirouette and run across the stage in a frenzied mélange of the Rites of Spring and Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean video. As a dark substance fills the tank, they continue splashing through the black liquid. Their dance becomes a squall of splashes and thrashing. The lights slowly go down on everyone until nothing but gargling voices are heard. In the darkness one last voice shouts: sell, sell, sell.
